A microphone on a modest stage. A screen with song lyrics scrolling by. Sticky pages from a notebook filled with hundreds of songs, ranging from Céline to Marjo. Welcome to a typical karaoke night. The documentary series KARAOKÉ on Véro.tv dives into this kitschy world through the eyes of its two hosts and partners-in-crime, Léane Labrèche-Dor and Martin Proulx. The two protagonists, themselves passionate about these evenings, meet the people for whom karaoke is almost a religion. The hosts travel through bars in Montreal and Quebec City, and also stop in Gatineau, in order to understand the passion that drives these “karaokists.”
